Basically, there is a mountain called the "Reichenspitze" ("Rich Men's Peak") in Austria. There are vast treasures of gold and silver in its depths, guarded by ghosts.

You _are_allowed to take as much of these riches with you as you can carry. But if you do, you are fated to join these ghosts after death and guard these treasures for all eternity!

I think folks who grew up a decade later than I did are used to all their wrinkles appearing online and just kind of living with that. So this is kind of a new feeling for me, as my teenage years were experienced partly on Usenet, somewhere I presumed disappeared after like a month.

hey californians, SB 868 passed the legislature (but is waiting on Gavin’s signature). If signed, on Jan 1 2027 it will be fully legal to add plug-in solar to your apartment without a bunch of additional paperwork.

Plug in solar systems are small (<1.5 kW) portable systems similar to those you might have for camping. When these systems are plugged into your wall outlet, they **reduce** the net load on you home’s circuit, reducing the amount of money you have to give to a corporation which has been found guilty of 84 counts of manslaughter.

For the most part, these systems don’t 100% eliminate your electrical bill and they cannot power your home during a blackout, but they help reduce costs a good deal.

There’s a nonprofit here in the east bay, Bright Saver, which builds and sells small plug-in systems at-cost. Their 360W systems are about $400, which is is a good deal lower than the normal $3/watt from installed solar
