This just showed up in my inbox, and well … all my posts in the Barenaked Ladies newsgroup in 1999 and 2000 are still there.
This is one of the most in-depth revivals of Usenet archives I’ve seen. It’s actually kind of scary how much this resurfaces.
I think folks who grew up a decade later than I did are used to all their wrinkles appearing online and just kind of living with that. So this is kind of a new feeling for me, as my teenage years were experienced partly on Usenet, somewhere I presumed disappeared after like a month.
About that …
Yes, I know Google Groups resurfaced a lot of Usenet posts publicly. But this is just so much more in depth than that. It’s the difference between resurfacing a little content and bringing a library back to life. The search capabilities are way better on this than any free resource I’ve tried.
Please nobody create a site called CompleteIRCLogs dot com, my brain will be unable to handle that
