Dear friends from #Iceland. Tomorrow you will vote on restarting the EU membership application process. It is a big decision and I know you had your reasons to halt the process back in 2013. We are not perfect. We have our problems. But we also have quite a lot to offer and I hope you will decide to take an honest look again. I would really love to welcome you in the EU family!
Once again my post disappeared into thin air. WTF
I think itโs good to remind yourself โ at any age โ at every age โ what you want to be when you grow up.
My SO thinks I'll never grow up...
The US has declared Autistici/Inventati, an Italian anarchist hacker (in the classic sense of the term) collective, a terrorist organization. https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sb0616/
But what you really ought to read is this article about A/I's history, and what this means https://cavallette.noblogs.org/2026/08/10083/2
I'm concerned that the US government is starting to identify decentralized media infrastructure as a threat to its survival. Repost information about this broadly, and if you have media contacts, inform them of counter-narratives; there could come a time where the fediverse, or any decentralized network infrastructure, is a target as well if we don't sound the alarms now.
EDIT: I linked to the wrong page! The second link is now fixed :)

The domain names of
autistici.org / inventati.org (and noblogs.org) are now suspended.
.org being managed by a US entity they were forced to suspend them due to Autisti (the oldest leftwing Italian collective doing web and mail hosting) being declared a terrorist organisation by Trump
Even for WikiLeaks they didn't do that
The US are clearly a fascist state now....
(Editing so everyone knows: maybe not. They were dead a few hours ago but not anymore)
Really?
I'm confused when you say "managed" do you mean server hosting and their server hosting company decided they violated TOS, or were told by the US government to do this?
Or is this about DNS?
I read about the US starting to do something similar to the UK, calling organizations "terrorist" on ever expanding and flexible pretexts but I'm surprised it resulted in pages going down so quickly.
@Pepijn are these routes in the dB planner now ?
Yes. Here's a direct train Groningen to Leer. #Bahn app screenshot.

Any anarchist on any online presence that touches US control needs to disentangle themselves (if possible) yesterday! Their collapse into outright fascism is accelerating at an unprecedented pace and it's clear they consider radical anarchists the most important thing to attack first.
@db0 I would extend that to anyone having any digital infrastructure linked to the US.
They can't be trusted for anything nowadays. ๐ฅด
It's 2038, you see a brief post on Rubio's death. You are kind of surprised anyone bothered,
@aral my first reaction was "oh no", but the BBC actually seems like it might be a good place to run a non-US big tech alternative to YouTube? Although I'm not sure how it would be a money making thing for them without lots of ads as I'm not sure how many people would pay extra to subscribe to it.

@chloehodges It has text on screen but I don't know how well that works, you still need to be able to concentrate on what you're hearing in terms of announcements and the sounds. @ChrisDuffley
@alexchapman @ChrisDuffley oh okay
Six months of war. Thousands killed. Air and seas poisoned. Families everywhere squeezed by rising bills.
The price of #war is paid by people and the planet, not those who profit from it.
@gvwilson Tip 1: If you use a Google Doc for your list of risks, you add the risk of losing access to your Google account. I'd always recommend local storage plus backups for everything important. Google Docs are fine only as temporary buffers for collaborative editing.
@gvwilson Tip 3: For software, it's worth mentioning that connecting a repository to Zenodo or Figshare won't keep a backup of issue threads. I am not aware of anything that does, unfortunately.
It's also worth mentioning Software Heritage, in particular for users of the big forges (GitHub ...) that are archived automatically. For others, a simple archival script will do, but you have to run it manually.
Iโve only seen a couple of people in my career with true narcissistic personality disorder. And I think itโs only because they came to me for a chronic medical problem, not to gain insight into other issues. People with NPD donโt go to therapy because thereโs nothing to fix, in their minds. Therapy is generally contraindicated for NPD because they use it to air grievances about how others have wronged them. It becomes apparent very quickly when you have someone with NPD sitting across from you. And they will quickly fire you if you donโt go along with their greatness.
After declaring he was done with treatment after maybe 4 visits, one guy I saw gave me a jar of mustard. I clearly still think about that from time to time 15 years later.
@tayfonay Fancy mustard or bottom shelf?
We've been getting a lot of questions about how the Internet Archive digitizes books.
The short answer: page by page, by hand.
You may remember our viral 2021 video of Eliza Zhang scanning a book. That's still how we do it.
