The thing that will always, always get me is that there's relatively few actual sociopaths in the world, and yet (by their own acts, by designing scaled sociopathic systems, by instilling the notion that sociopathic conduct is normative, and by compelling everyone else to adopt a posture that will anticipate and counter sociopathy) they manage to ruin things for everyone.
This observation prompted by a dream I had last night in which I ran into Peter Thiel at the supermarket on Waiheke. I gave him the maximum stinkeye, of course, to zero discernible effect.

Do me a favor and recommend folks who you think I’d appreciate hearing more from on the regular and do not already follow? You know what I like: heavy music, cats, tasteful SF, ‘70s DIY/DIT praxis descended from the Whole Earth current, doom philosophy, tropical Brutalism, ultrarunning & UL hiking, nondogmatic anarchism, whatever the diametric opposite of FOSS hectoring/infighting is, good design...the usual.

@greenpeace Idea: stop talking about climate *warming* and start talking about climate *change* or climate *crisis* instead. It leaves less room to the sceptics when we have temperatures under 30C.

@davidgerard @julieofthespirits @MaddieM4 Many, many years ago, a former professor of mine described this as a "ideology of psychological convenience." I've never forgotten the phrase and, once you realize that this describes both liberals as political singletons and liberalism as an ideological formation, you cannot see it in any other way.
