I suppose the communication disconnect is that those of us without your detailed knowledge and analysis have no good way of properly evaluating it.
It's like when I've designed computer systems and haven't been able to say anything more reassuring than "trust me, this system will do what you really want even though you don't know what you really want" ... I've been right 9 times out of 10 and I'm hoping Professor Blaze is right 999 out of 1000, especially as the system (which has since been improved) has shown some spectacular failures (eg, Gore vs Bush)

I'd like to create a custom #Fediverse t-shirt for my upcoming talk at #BerlinFediDay.
I thought of maybe using the Fediverse logo as the "O" for "HOPE". What do you think? Trying to gauge if it's cheesy or not, I'd love some external opinion 😅

Is HOPE related to Hackers on Planet Earth (or something else), or it related to the title of your talk?

Oh, yes! We travelled at faster-than-light speeds across hundreds (if not thousands) of lightyears because we needed (checks notes) water. A compound of two of the most common elements in the universe. We used more energy to get here than it would have taken to build the water we needed with just hydrogen as a starting point, but, hey, we didn't think of that as an approach.
@adamgreenfield Also, I like a lot of the things you listed, or things adjacent to them, but I mostly post about books, language, and nature. Autonominating anyway, for the hell of it; no hard feelings if you've already decided against it
