@glyph @Netzblockierer The protocol doesn't care. Netbird and other tools will dynamically allocate an address in the subnet you define (or the default one).

The ap-next developer guide was removed from the https://activitypub.rocks website: https://github.com/swicg/activitypub.rocks/issues/63 (by the father of the Fediverse, no less).
The reason:
It's a fork outside the SocialCG.
This is utter nonsense. The guide refers to the original ActivityPub specification and even to SocialCG reports covering Webfinger and HTTP signatures. The other ap-next project is NomadPub - a collection of FEPs that significantly expand the capabilities of the protocol but don't diverge from the original spec.
However, since dissenting opinions about the present and the future of ActivityPub are now openly censored, a fork may indeed be necessary.

@nixCraft as someone who has taken a deep dive into the omarchy code base (and i'm being generous when I say that) I wouldn't slap this thing on anything other than a VM. horribly written and redundant scripts left, right, and center. series of wgets with evals that just open it up to exploit.
It's no wonder DHH refuses to slap this thing on some trackers. he knows, he's just not skilled enough or too lazy to actually fix it.

Literal que puedo ver en tiempo real como se les pudre el cerebro a mis jefes con tanto abuso de la IA, es de locos parece que nadie es capaz ni de pensar ni de razonar por su cuenta, mandan tickets y mensajes pasados por IA que ni leen y ponen una de cosas sin sentido que se podrían resumir en 2 líneas. Proyectos enteros y documentación todo hecho por IA, sin acordarse de lo que han hecho ni de los detalles técnicos importantes del proyecto es imposible dialogar algo técnico con ellos ahora, por supuesto cuando hay un fallo que requiere complejidad y atención al detalle se lo piden a la única persona que queda capaz de revisar algo con precisión y detalle (yo). Aún así parecen ciegos e incapaces de ver todos los problemas y la mayor carga de trabajo que está dejando, siguen ciegos en su burbuja de que todo va mejor. Creo que la IA en el sector tecnológico está destapando lo que durante años no era tan obvio: el increíble desprecio que tienen hacia otras personas humanas. Las formas de dirigir y de dar instrucciones han cambiado al haberse acostumbrado a dárselas a la IA, entre esas costumbres se ven maneras tóxicas y despreciables. Acaban deshumanizando al trabajador hablándole con el mismo trato despreciable con el que le hablan a su IA. La IA es la fantasía preferida de toda persona despreciable que tiene aspiraciones autoritarias, es el juguete perfecto que no rechista ni pone peros, lo que esconde detrás es un desprecio tremendo hacía la vida humana.
@jamey @sophieop honestly something as simple as an end-user only setting for location, with a matching location code for each event published (which is already something usually included in some form in event calendars like that! so it's not even a lot of extra work), would allow users to automatically filter by events that were near them, and would greatly simplify it just as a start

I've thought about building a standalone web app that pulls down a configurable set of calendars, filters them by location, and publishes a new iCalendar with only the selected events. but I haven't had the energy for that project yet. it could be useful both for private usage and for creating public curated calendars. the more extreme version would let you specify different locations at different times: "I'm traveling in three months, what should I do while I'm there?" I think there are a ton of opportunities to build useful things like that, and I expect there are lots of other ideas I'd never think of, so I really want to see what other people would do
