Goldfinches! In the Cosmos #BirdCallout
(Like, cosmos the flower. But technically all birds are in the cosmos I guess)
"Running the mementomori.social infrastructure, websites and social media service costs 204.15 € a month, about 2450 € a year."

@autiomaa @niko Media on isoin.
Tietokanta on toinen show stopper mikäli haluaa kasvaa, mutta sillekin saa SSD-levyä rahalla. Mastohostissa ja muissa managedeissa on käytännössä kiinni ylläpitäjän systeemeissä.
@woozle the worst is when internet leftists buy the capitalist propaganda that socialism means you don't own your toothbrush 😩
@Xibanya That's "Mission Accomplished" for the disinformationalists.
✨Pixelfed v0.12.9 is now available!
This includes the account migration fix and more.
My partner’s internet recently has been talking about how buddlejas are drought resistant. And this is true, as evidenced by the number in Cambridge that are growing from cracks in pavement and walls.
But, having previously tried to kill a buddleja, I think the fact that they are also largely resistant to weed killer, fire, chainsaws, and exorcism is perhaps more important information.
@david_chisnall 100%, no comments. Also in Cambridge, and buddleias appear impossible to kill. We have one that was in our garden when we moved in nearly 30 years ago that we hack to the ground every 2-3 years, and it just keeps on growing! The insects love the flowers, so it definitely earns its place. And it doesn't seem prone to invading, so that's something, too.
this is indefensible: https://nyc.streetsblog.org/2026/08/24/mamdani-bqe-plan-august-2026
horrible decision to continue Robert Moses' legacy through 2080
Why are we still being asked to do leetcode exercises or even the fizzbuzz test?
Why do our peers assume that seniority is the same as hyperspecific stack knowledge?
How come I can get hired as a contractor without any of the issues above, turn in amazingly good work for super thankful clients and then end up in absolutely mental full time application processes for jobs with a 6 month probation period a couple of months later?
@alda I've been going on the theory that it's because the business world hasn't yet evolved into an understanding of how I.T. works. (This includes nonprofits, in my observation -- I could do a smol story/rant.)
My latest FOSSAcademic post is another Goal 3 post about my "content creators" project. This time it's the year in content creators, 1997, which seems to me to be a pivotal year.

But!
Either way I need to restock 7 carded Kumiai-Ki at the bookstore.
@SensitiveSyl Wait… Leuchtturm means lighthouse? Fascinating! (I was thinking about the journal btw)
I looked at the other photos and I guessed that's what it meant 😄
I can't believe people think The Odyssey is a good film. This is an actual scene from the movie if you distort the hell out of Matt Damon and Zendaya's faces. Literally unwatchable.
@lowqualityfacts i was underwhelmed personally but i'm used to being on the outside
A few weeks ago a #wildfire broke out in Mincinglake Valley Park in #exeter #devon burning down large areas of dry grass. It seems fairly superficial and I think most larger trees that were affected will survive. The contrast between the charred ground and green trees makes it look quite spectacular, especially in places where the grass is starting to grow back. I look forward to witnessing the regreening process in real time on my way to work over the coming weeks.
i put 12 carded Kumiai-Ki action figures at the bookstore this weekend.
When I went in today there were 5. I haven't checked sales numbers yet, and it's possible that my dad came and picked up some for one of our other retail locations.
But, if he did, he didn't take the pile marked "for dad, for [our other retail locations]" which ... would be completely in character if I'm being honest.
Regardless, he wouldn't have taken 7 figures. I could see him taking 1, 2 (because it's an even number), 4 (because it's an even number), or 5 (because it's a multiple of 5).
6 is probably too many for the space he has dedicated for them at Treasure Hunt, and 7 is an odd number, and he's got Number Things. And, again, I'm not positive he took any, but he probably did.
So we sold somewhere between 2 and 7 carded Kumiai-Ki at the bookstore this weekend, and I'll have to check the report to verify.

@Xibanya Relatedly: hearing "property" as meaning things like clothes, pencils, tools, etc. "The communists want to own the shirt on your back!" or whatever.

@stevE nicht im Rheinland!
@AvSchroeder @stevE komme auch aus dem Rheinland (Düsseldorf) und habe noch nie "Bällchen" gehört.
➡️ für mich "Kugeln im Hörnchen"
So DHH (the racist and fascist) got 8 million USD for his foundation for his garbage half-baked config files that he claims are a "distribution".

I hate this timeline.
@tante Well at least we have somewhere for all his fanboys to congregate.
They can take the oxygen away from each other.
It's a slim silver lining I grant you.
Meloni championed irregular migrant “returns” in a hardline push to externalise EU borders. Now, more member states are asking Italy to take back migrants under the first-arrival principle.
