In the upcoming world where TLS certificates are limited to 47 days of validity and continue to have no size limit? That seems like it might have some scaling problems…

About a year ago Duan, Mao, Mao, Shu, & Yin published a performance breakthrough in how to calculate a route between 2 points in a network. A breakthrough we've previously suspected to be impossible!
This is useful to me if I want to include street-maps in the feature-phone I'm planning to build, as it greatly simplifies the code I'd need to write in order for it to give you directions on how to get somewhere! Potentially enabling it to run on the cheap microcontroller I've ordered.

If you're viewing a thread in Mastodon, try waiting 5 - 10 seconds to give it time to load in all the replies from all the other servers. When it's done loading it will show a little pop up message "Show more replies" or similar, click on the message to view all replies in the thread.
In the old days it didn't do this and threads looked different on every server, but since Mastodon 4.5.0 it fetches all replies in a thread, so threads now look the same on every server.
Ah! it seems so long ago that I counted the summer wasted, if I had not been to the Ex;1 but I have since realized I like the Royal2 much more. i'm sitting here after using claude a moderate amount yesterday and a voice in my head says "hey we should pitch x idea to claude"
@hex I tried to get Gemini's help coming up with a stack computer architecture (not metered at work so I'm pretty sure they wouldn't care it wasn't directly work related) and it took me three tries to even get it to realize that you can't increment the program counter at the end of the instruction because that would result in a clock cycle spent doing nothing before starting the next instruction. The first time it was like "Oh yeah I'll just use a lookahead adder!"
So not only are LLMs sycophantic, they also confidently give replies about things they know nothing about.

For a few reasons, including the rain visible here and a rough surface in front of the stairs, I like to fold and unfold it on the covered porch. My son and I added a simple ramp this week to make it easier to get to and from the porch.

DNS control... the first mitm above is adequate to get a legitimate LetsEncrypt cert for the domain, for instance. If you have DNS control _globally_ not just toward local targets you can just... get a cert. So ok, tying a mechanism to DNSSEC isn't worse than everything else already is.
What happens if a site loses its keys? Shit outta luck like a Mastodon server and you can't bring anything back up on that exact domain again? Not acceptable.

Fuck it, CVE dumpster diving.
CVE-2026-20231 - this is one of a batch of Cisco CVEs that stood out to me because they have multiple descriptions: One by the CNA, one by an ADP, "CVE" itself. The ADP one is just "please please please dont do this (bundling multiple vulns into a single cve) 
". Cisco dont care, they put out 9 of those over the last 7 days.
