This really gets to the heart of things. When we deal online with anonymous avatars, there’s a danger, and unknown that increases everyone’s anxiety.
Compare that to talking to people you’ve met in person even once, or shared a few video conferences with.
The nature of this medium pushes people into a stress position.. so every interaction starts off guarded.

@benpate @scottjenson @thisismissem I wasn't just being silly when I riffed on Anuj's People Not Platforms with Build Purpose Not Products last year. The phrase was off the cuff, but the Futures & Systems stuff I was already chasing was very heavily about understanding your functional outcome - the purpose of a system, the need it meets - first, and keeping guardrails up *hard* as you work backwards to your building blocks.
Unfortunately and even here, we've mostly not done that.
I've played through once myself and twice watched as someone else plays. @maj is playing right now and has done all the coolest stuff.

People still refer to the Triborough Bridge and the IRT subway. Hell, my father habitually called it Idlewild airport, and most cab drivers knew what he meant.

The smugness with which he insists no one was harmed and then tries to blame Bill Gates and MacKenzie Scott is ridiculous. If those two "could have" replaced the funding so too could Elon, whose net worth is more than both combined. But also, it shows a stunning lack of understanding of everything.
