by the way, and most people won’t need this, but to be clear on how linus got to the nonsensical term “social warrior project”:

he was going to type “this isn’t a social justice warrior project”. SJW is the 2016-2020 (approximately) ideological predecessor of the right-wing conspiracies around wokeness and around the woke mind virus. there’s also a not insignificant antisemitic component (blur your eyes and pretend to be 13 years old and read SJW again). he typed this because it’s a term he’s very comfortable using as an insult.

linus moved his fingers to the hotkey that sends email and half-actuated the keys and paused. bringing up “social justice warriors” gets you laughed out of polite company these days. it’s a tired right-wing meme that became a fascist conspiracy that became a tell that the person you’re talking to is a fascist asshole who deserves to be laughed at.

so he went back and deleted “justice” to make it less clear what he was talking about and sent the email

I'll regret asking this I'm sure, but let's say I was sick of VSCodium / VSCode being incredibly slow, what nice simple genAI-free IDE should I try out on macOS?

I like GUIs, but just want code editing, a terminal, a file browser, and version control. No other cruft required, and absolutely no genAI shite. What's good these days?

To pre-empt some answers: I'm unlikely to use vim. Emacs is a possibility.
