you know, the one with the conventions and the hackathons and the grassroots anti-corporate shit during the 90s and early 2000s and the mounds of guys who’ll jump down your throat for using any other OS

nah fuck what the community wants, a couple of alleged nonprofits with fucking billionaire donors (including anthropic) told linus LLMs are good actually so linux isn’t a social warrior project
can’t wait for the linux social warriors to jump down my throat for disagreeing with the kernel maintainer so toxic he had to go to therapy for it
and the therapy clearly didn’t work since now he’s spouting weird shit that sounds like a mildly rephrased fash conspiracy theory about the wokes
you know I was hoping I didn’t have to make this clear but the throwaway accounts are uhh reaching today
I think it’s great when toxic men go to therapy. many more of them should!
if you come out of therapy and later start spouting fascist conspiracy theories about the wokes, the therapy didn’t work.
linus should consider shutting the fuck up and going back to therapy, cause he’s a better person when he has help instead of an active addiction.
to grind this dead horse into glue: going to therapy doesn’t make you a bad person. you’re in therapy to become a better version of you, who treats other people better.
that’s why if you later fall down a fascist pipeline and start spouting conspiracy crap, the therapy failed to do any of the above.
this isn’t a whoopsie. this isn’t a minor thing linus is doing. it’s a major failure on the guy’s part. nobody should sugarcoat that, and nobody should make the mistake of supporting it because the guy was momentarily nice in the past.
by the way, and most people won’t need this, but to be clear on how linus got to the nonsensical term “social warrior project”:
he was going to type “this isn’t a social justice warrior project”. SJW is the 2016-2020 (approximately) ideological predecessor of the right-wing conspiracies around wokeness and around the woke mind virus. there’s also a not insignificant antisemitic component (blur your eyes and pretend to be 13 years old and read SJW again). he typed this because it’s a term he’s very comfortable using as an insult.
linus moved his fingers to the hotkey that sends email and half-actuated the keys and paused. bringing up “social justice warriors” gets you laughed out of polite company these days. it’s a tired right-wing meme that became a fascist conspiracy that became a tell that the person you’re talking to is a fascist asshole who deserves to be laughed at.
so he went back and deleted “justice” to make it less clear what he was talking about and sent the email
