L'enfasi alla continuità dei contenuti, per fidelizzazione degli utenti (sui quotidiani così come sul web) crea chiacchiericcio, e il chiacchiericcio soffoca sia l'utile che il gratificante.
Come resistere?
The latest from @andrewnez is scary, but is the kind of research that actually gets practitioners' attention https://nesbitt.io/2026/05/08/weekend-at-bernies.html (OK, "but" should probably be "and therefore")
Ofcom’s work on scanning your private messages has dropped https://www.ofcom.org.uk/online-safety/illegal-and-harmful-content/consultation-technology-notices it looks to me like they unlawfully narrowed the scope the scope of their impact assessment by refusing to assess the real-world consequences of scanning private communications at scale. @neil @cyberleagle

I always wonder if these interventions are…useful or not. It’s like a small bandaid on a gushing injury
@slims in sports you see the coaches problem. Even if all the options are bad, you still have to make a choice. Like in chess. If a team is doing bad, a coach has to do something, anything, because doing nothing gets them fired, and so you’ll see them make terrible trades, or rearranging lines, or switching goalies, even if it doesn’t fix the problem. Even if it makes new problems. Even if it makes the original problem worse.
Politicians are like coaches. Doing nothing gives the opposition ammunition in the next election, it goes in the news cycle, costs businesses money. Reputational damage. All they are is a reputation so they feel it a lot.
So they make a choice, even if all the choices are flaccid half-measures.
*shrugs*
I mean instead of telling uhh, apparently 84% of the country to shut up and eat a shit sandwich, maybe British liberals oughta find a Green Party candidate *they* can compromise vote for? Cause you know, this thing where you centrists play chicken till election night hasn't really been going well uh, *checks notes* in every other Western country your ideological counterparts have tried it...
TO REFUSE is a creative act. What is created in a refusal is a gap, a space, a moment in which something else makes ready to emerge, something that waits upon our invitation and a bit of water or sunlight to pop itself out and set down roots. To refuse is to create that which can only exist in the shade of that refusal, the refusal giving shelter to the choice that appears behind it. _To refuse is to choose._

Elixir FR and Elixir Paris are doing a new meetup online (in French only)
We will have a series of fast talks, around ~15minutes each
- An introduction to #Gleamlang
- A presentation about using hot code reloading in production
- A talk about Civis, a static websites farm
- A presentation about learning Elixir and Phoenix (by myself!)
We will probably be on our discord :)

@davidgerard @pikesley @peter_mcmahan @madargon They hate that actual human beings have the ability to tell them they're wrong and say no to their propositions, while with AI, the answer is always yes and in their eyes, true personhood is only ever granted to people who agree with them.
They're so narcissistic that outside perspectives are never sought, nevermind considered, so it only stands to reason the thing they really want to fuck is a sycophantic virtual mirror, as free of morals as they are, only in it's case it's a quirk of design rather than an intentional choice.

@ebassi fwiw my fairphone is stock android 15 and it improved to personal usability immediately upon deleting the Google app. got my power button back too.
I have Android and not an alternate OS (Fairphone actively supports and funds e/os) cos i've got commercial apps to run from the Play store to do my shit, and i could faff about with compatibility or i could not do that. i get enough of that using Linux.

31 days until Apple re-announces the new Siri, takes another shot at Apple Intelligence.
My bet is that they will be transparent about the underpinnings and how much they rely on 3rd parties like Google and Anthropic.
Am I being naive? Is it possible that Apple will present the new AI as Apple all the way down? Pretend it isn't Gemin/Claude behind the curtain?
When David Graeber warned Labour not to abandon its principles, give up socialism and become a Centrist Party, he was ignored and even mocked by the Labour-Right.
But his prediction that abandoning socialism would ruin the party was correct, and history has proven David to be right.

Whether you’re bullish or skeptical on AI, it’s one of the more intellectually serious counterarguments to the current “just scale bigger LLMs” mindset I’ve seen in a while.
