I just realized why (one reason, at least) I'm having such a hard time finding information on #GleamLang
All the discussion and questions are happening in the Discord server. Which means when I'm developing with Gleam on my work computer, I am unable to access all of that information that's happening on Discord.
I realized this when I came across (another) StackOverflow post of a user asking a Gleam question with zero comments and zero replies. I thought to myself, well they should have asked in the Discord -- then it hit me.
All that good information in Discord is just locked behind the Discord doors, forcing you to buy into that ecosystem where it is all kept away from the rest of the internet. 😩
Related: I constantly see the same links in almost every web search about Gleam I make. Often times they are not even related to what I'm searching for but it's because I have "Gleam" and some other keyword in the post. Yes, I know Gleam is a newer language and there's inherently not as much information out there as other languages, but how can it grow when all the people answering questions are in Discord?

By the way, the #GleamLang developer survey is still open if you have a minute to fill it in. It's useful even if you're just curious about Gleam
If you like friendly, powerful, type-safe languages, you should try #Gleam. It's hard to imagine but the whole language fits in a slide.

Enjoying reading the Gleam language tour/intro, its written simply and the editable/runnable examples are pretty useful:

or all-in-one-page version:

Language nerds may find it interesting that Gleam compiles to Erlang, then hands over to the Erlang compiler.
The Gleam compiler is written in Rust (some people would call it a transpiler, to which Gleam's creator says "same thing")
I'm not sure yet if a function can return multiple values/variables. Can functional languages normally do this? Anyway if not I guess I can have a function return a union with the various values contained within...

re: gleam
has anyone who has thought about "a garbage collected rust" tried it? my understanding is gleam is more-or-less that.
like sure it's probably more Functional than Rust, but is it not similar?
