It makes sense: developing their shitty OS takes too much time - even with its ensloppified features there is even less revenue. Why not replace it by a system that works better and is developed by others? I mean they sure can put up ads on a Windows branded desktop environment, there is no feature that Windows makes better than Linux... except for maybe some KLAC. lol
Question: Is there any free, public website you recommend where you can get fairly recent, up-to date satellite pictures of any place on Earth?

@LudoWaltman @prereview @MetaROR thanks - the authors submitted a preprint on the OSF to a journal, but not to MetaRoR, so I will go for PreReview. Linking preprints to reviews seems like an obvious improvement for the OSF though

I am writing this on Tusky, which is free software that someone had to write. It is running on an older Android phone, which someone had to assemble from components that other people had to make from raw materials that still other people had to produce.
You are reading this because it was transmitted via a sophisticated international communications system which someone had to design and someone else had to make from raw materials that someone else had to produce.
The electricity also had to be produced by someone, using machinery made by someone else.

OK, we have a winner. For the last few days we've been discussing a label for creative content and code attested to be free of generative AI (see QP in second reply). Yesterday's poll showed a clear preference for the simplest of the four options.
Seems like what we need next is someone with actual graphics ability to take this rough concept and create usable graphics. If you are interested please read on to the first reply.
Today I discovered that the social medium Nostr is mirroring my Mastodon profile via a mirroring server called mostr.pub.
I looked up a few other Mastodon profiles. They are mirrored too.
I never chose to be on Nostr, but my complete Mastodon profile and a number of posts are there.
I wonder what the legality of that is.
The site doesn't access your account until someone searches for it, and even then it's out of date until your search forces it to catch up.
It's not a problem if your Fediverse account is open for searching, as that's your choice. They're not breaking any rules.

The other thing though, is that UBI, being Universal and Basic, has to have that structural tie-in to progressive taxation.
If you get $1200 in UBI, and do not have employment income, that is the first $1200 you earn and you pay no tax and you have $1200 to spend. If I don’t get any UBI ( for the thought experiment, ignore that I just broke “universal”) but am employed and get $2400/month..
