Worried customers have been discussing this in Ubiquiti’s online forums, but threads have been shut down for “violating community guidelines”.
Many companies see their products sold to Russia, but Ubiquiti products are actually online, which means Ubiquiti could trace the illegal use and intervene — so why don’t they?

This morning I turned on the coffee machine and made my espresso.
Then I turned it off and organized the rest of breakfast.
After that, I turned the coffee machine on (hey, it warmed up instantly!) and looked for my favorite cup, but I couldn’t find it.
Weird, I was sure it was in the dishwasher, clean.
Then I looked at the table and saw my lovely hot espresso already waiting for me.
If this is how the week starts, I’m not sure I want to imagine how it’s going to continue 😆

@sci_photos I don't have any reason to think so. If that's what they were doing, I doubt they'd be happy with the result they got.
This is complete speculation, but I really do think they just don't know how to design learning studies with human subjects. And it didn't even occur to them that there is such a thing as doing it well or poorly, or that they should consult with an expert. So they just grabbed the first format that came to mind, which was a programming interview. Then they added a control group without ever considering what the actual difference was between the two test conditions.
@jenniferplusplus Okay, now in retrospect; during my Physics diploma I did not encounter “human subjects”, and would also not be prepared to design such a study. But, I guess, I would seek for advice then … ?
So validating when people see the portraits you snapped, tell you “well I have a new profile picture now!” and they actually use your pictures ☺️

@randahl yesterday at FOSDEM there was a member of the European Parliament who was asked why so many politicians are still on X and her answer made total sense (sadly):
Politicians stay on X because journalists are still there, so they feel that if they leave they will become irrelevant / not be written about.
And journalists stay on X because politicians are there.
It’s a vicious cycle
@_elena @randahl I think there is a rise of fascism in many countries (which does not mean people became fascist). Fascist politicians will not move from fascist platforms. Worst, the non-fascist politicians are mimicking the fascist ones to obtain votes. For instance, in the Chilean presidential election, most of the candidates focused on migration because that was the main topic of the fascist candidate. Then, non-fascists will be where fascists are.
and even in militaries, there are many many many roles that people perform that are not shooting things
spies, communications, signals intelligence, radar, drone pilot, mechanics, cooks, doctors and nurses, ware house workers, laundry workers, IT people
