@LaVi la cosa che mi ha colpito di più sono i nomi latini, che oggi sono i nomi inglesi della punteggiatura: comma, la virgola; colon, i due punti; periodus è diventato period, il punto (almeno nell'inglese americano, perché mi pare di ricordare che nell'inglese britannico si dicesse full stop).

@GeofCox I felt exactly this way about smart kettles. Their utility is restricted unless you keep them full all the time. Otherwise, being able to tell them to boil from the other side of the house is pointless. Likewise, a smart oven. What's the point in remotely having it microwave something if you first have to put it in from right there?

I’m lying here in the dark, waiting for the sun to rise and thinking about the Fortingall yew.
Experts place its age at around 5,000 years old. A path leads towards it, and along the way, stones mark the events in human history that it has seen. It’s seen a lot. Too much, maybe. It looks tired.
And yet stones are not remembered this way, though they have seen more.
