Another *valuable* characteristic of the #Thunderbird client is that it can display an email's full headers.
All too commonly, an ESP's native client will NOT display the headers. (I'm looking at you, Gmail and Outlook.)
Worse, those same clients will often display only the "spoofed" sender details.
It's almost like their devs sat down and thought,
"How can we simultaneously make our app worse AND increase the likelihood of our users getting scammed? ... I've got it! Let's remove any possibility of seeing the email headers within our client app!"
I thank God, and Mozilla, for Thunderbird.

@reiver That's a good question. I know it's supposed to be a community space but it's very new and shiny so it might be pricy.

Pixelfed does definitely boost reputation and credibility of Loops, but that comes at a cost.
Some Pixelfed users are resentful of Loops and how much time I've spent on it.

I’m so bothered by all of the people who are supposedly on the ‘good’ side who use these things against their political opponents:
- making fun of people’s accents (make fuck, get green card is not funny even if you are mocking a horrible person)
- making fun of people’s weight
- making fun of people’s body parts and appendages
- using all kinds of ableist slurs and insinuations of mental health issues
- insinuating that people who think differently from you have ‘low IQ’ or developmental disabilities

I really hate the introductions in pop science books. I also hate the lack of citations. Really I just don't like popular science as a genre, I like beautiful writing and it's usually lacking in that as well, but sometimes it's just an interesting enough topic that I persist...

This week I talked to two different friends who are still on Facebook, and independent of each other they both said it was because of how the Facebook groups gave them easy access to information about their hobby, e.g. knitting.
So I need to ask: Can Mastodon compete with that and how?
