The Even Realities G1s totally deserve THREE major design awards! They're my daily pair of glasses and always surprise people with how they look like a normal pair of glasses. If only they had speakers and/or a camera and they'd be perfect.
Being able to run Mentra OS on them is also a major plus, even though I'm sure that wasn't on the awards criteria 😅

The biggest issue with Meta's new smart glasses is how they normalize surveillance and recordings. If we aren't careful, we'll soon accept it, just as we have accepted CCTV cameras in most public squares.

Apple has been working on a cheaper version of its Vision Pro headset, but is no w said to be shifting resources to wok on smart glasses to compete with Meta's. Ugh, everytime new #SmartGlasses are presented masses of people are crooning how absolutely cool that is. Think about it a bit more, folks, I'd say.
The moment smart glasses become well accepted and pervasive in society, is the moment we know that shite really hit the fan, and we are deep in dystopia.
It is not unthinkable we get a high adoption rate, if those #AR info overlays provide real use to people.
Compare to driving from A to B which hardly anyone can do anymore withouth #Google Maps.
