Friends, at a time when science is under attack and people are economically hurting, the scientific community should work to make access easier not harder. @ACM, Association for Computing Machinery, is doing the complete opposite by introducing paywalls that didn't exist.
Features that were previously free and open to the public are now "Premium
Access" features.
If you are opposed to this measure, join me in signing this petition asking the ACM to stop.

While rich institutions have bought in, it seems like nearly every community college in America is locked out! Students, researchers, and practitioners are excluded from features necessary to navigate and understand the computing literature---features that were available to them free of charge a month ago.

@ajroach42 I am setting up a family gaming computer for my
sons and I. Just installed MYST from
Steam and I'm pleasantly surprised to see it looks handsomely remastered.
It's funny how much wonder I got from that game when it was new (and I was young). Maybe it's the thoughtfulness that made it such a breakthrough, a level up from Cosmic Osmo and other Cyan games of the era. I loved that it was in 3D, but mostly that it was in color, and fundamentally about the magic of books.
Chiarisco, non vedo niente di male nell'atto di promuoversi, soprattutto sul Fediverso, dove ci sono istanze dove è consentito (e dove volendo puoi crearti la tua istanza).
Quello che intendo è che secondo me, sui social commerciali come sul Fediverso, avere un account promozionale per un locale/attività non è molto utile, proprio in termini di resa/impegno.

@zkat Hmm, that's an interesting idea. I'll have to think about that for a while!
The only concern that comes to mind right now is how to remove the ability for said actors to section off their usage of the thing into some separate project with a HTTP API or whatever while keeping the rest of their system proprietary and secret. But that's a more general virality question, I suppose.
