I don't think he understands the complexity involved in running these cleanrooms and the cost of contamination in clean rooms.
So many stories about huge losses in fabs due to oil or gas contamination. But sure, go smoke a cigar in your clean room.
Ein dabei oft geäußerter Vorwurf: Wissenschaftler:innen seien zu politisch, ja aktivistisch, das würde Glaubwürdigkeit von Forschung untergraben. Bei einer Tagung zu Wissenschaftsskepsis des 'Club of Vienna' habe ich die Gegenthese vertreten: angesichts von Klimakrise und neofaschistischen Tendenzen brauchen wir eher mehr politisch klar positionierte Wissenschaft.

@sarahjamielewis project management: I've been thinking about small, mostly-trusted chat + project management apps for a bit, targeting small businesses (so like <10 people, they just need something fairly simple with lots of ways to reorganize because we're all adults here but mistakes happen and anyone can fix it).
What kind of stuff are you looking for? No idea if I'll work on it any time soon (depends on Life™) but I am definitely curious either way.

I am a Yes, but. I think downvote/dislike buttons are a great distributed moderation tool. Many of the microaggressions (and not-so-micro aggressions) that make social networks difficult could be helped a lot by peer moderation.
The "but" is that it is hard to implement well, and hard to ensure that mobs don't silence important but unpopular voices.
@evan I think there is a required level of common understanding needed to really have like/dislike, upvote/downvote, or agree/disagree be usable without being abused - it doesn't translate well across online sub-cultures without some careful UX thinking and knowing your user community.
It works on Ravelry, which uses "Agree/Disagree" but there are two essentials there that I have not seen anywhere else: /con't
