@mayintoronto my favorite thing about Mastodon is that despite me being a lifelong nerd, decades in tech, professionally and as a hobby, I come across people on Mastodon talking about nerd shit I've never even heard of. A completely different caliber of nerd.
It is wonderful to see that not all businesspeople are cowards.

@randahl I'm always amused to hear people talking about billionaires as if they were a special sub species of human. A billionaire is only a human turns into given great financial success: an a**hole. It doesn't matter how you get there the perception is always:
- it was all you
- you of all people deserved it
- you're better than the rest for it
Its a human thing. A lot of them started as decent people. They all turn eventually. It's just a matter of time and circumstances.
So I hear Facebook is officially rolling out its plan to charge people for sharing links.... 🙄 #Meta #SocialMedia

Brendan Larsen from Ngāmotu in Aotearoa and a member of the New Plymouth Astronomical Society took this stack over a couple of hours and estimates 14000 satellite trails. This is how bad it is now, it's set to get much much much worse - and then we lose Low Earth Orbit until the mess cleans itself up, if it cleans itself up. No weather satellites for forecasting, no GPS, and definitely no crewed spaceflight. All because of ego and greed. It must be stopped.

Targeted ads discovered which are zero-click spyware which can de-anonymize, fingerprint, and automatically infect devices the moment an advertisement is rendered
“Devices at international news network Al Jazeera were infected with mercenary spyware from Candiru (rebranded as “Integrity Labs”) via targeted online advertisements.
The malicious advertisements were purchased by Discover-Tech, an Israeli company that presents itself as a legitimate advertising company, but which we found operates as a facilitator for multiple mercenary spyware partners.
Discover-Tech operates a platform called Controlium that enables its mercenary partners to de-anonymize, fingerprint, and automatically infect devices the moment an advertisement is rendered — a form of zero-click attack.”
OK, this is slightly weird from my #Zigbee sensors. All were installed at the same time, all have the same batteries, all started at 100% charge.
After less than a week, the one in the fridge is at 62% battery 🤯 I don't know if that's the cold, or the fact it's in big metal box?
The bathroom experiences the most dramatic changes in humidity / temperature - but it reports once per minute like the other devices. So why is it lower in battery?

Probably the cold plus the device might have bad reception there and therefore be unreliable.
@robryk What they’re doing is impersonating the author’s identity on the storefront where the customers see it, but creating a separate billing account that the pirate uses for receiving payments. The book title is the same, but because their book is cheaper many customers buy it instead of the real one.
This process is semi-automated—someone did this to "A Conventional Boy" in its launch week.

@sebsauvage @Bristow_69 de toutes façons, vu la capacité du réservoir, tu n'auras pas plus de 5 secondes de thrust. Mais tu soulève un point très important, et on connaît l'historique des bugs chez Tesla (même si celui que tu cite, il a été prouvé que c'était une erreur de l'utilisateur et que Tesla n'y était pour rien, mais il y a énormément d'autres cas avérés)
