@davew BTW, we've already implemented RSS integrations for posts and articles published in Bonfire, and we've prototyped an extension that brings RSS feeds into your social feed. We're big fans of RSS and long-time users, so it's quite an honor to chat with you! ❤️
we're indeed very curious about the TwoWay RSS @fahrni was talking about... 👀

@davew hi! we've built an open source framework for building any kind of federated digital apps, much like wordpress for (federated) social networks, actually focusing on our social release: https://bonfirenetworks.org/posts/bonfire_social_rc/
but we divide our work also on open science extensions ( https://bonfirenetworks.org/posts/openscience_network/ ) and other experiments. Happy to provide more concrete info 😊

There's now a new setting under "privacy" to decide the default active tab in the DM view (fig 1) and we've implemented filtering DMs by "followed only" (fig 2) as the lowest hanging fruit 🍓 .
DMs from people you don't follow are still received and saved - this is just UI filtering for now. And agree with what @j12t was pointing out, followers/following isn' really meaningful for classifying relationships or trust...

P.S. We're also working with @sciety to help them build a #bonfire flavour specifically for #preprints publications as part of their #nlnet grant: https://blog.sciety.org/sciety-secures-funding-from-nlnet-foundation-to-help-build-discourse-around-preprints/
