Bonfire is built by communities, for communities. Rooted in autonomy, mutual care, and collective power. Co-create your tools, reclaim your data, and resist manipulation by shaping your own federated digital spaces.

@dleberre @pierreboudes @unif @fresseng @bmarne @Zekovski @bonfire@mastodon.social fyi leveraging bonfire framework you can build custom extensions tailored for your specific needs automatically plugged in a federated environment… happy to share more or discuss your use case :)

👀 We were selected for a contest of 99 projects contributing to the "Commons Economy" of tomorrow. You can support us by voting Bonfire and give it more chances to be selected for the next iteration, that means free visibility and global reach.

@lawik time ago, we envisioned a pilot to connect IoT and smart applications to the fediverse, aiming to federate citizen science efforts and simplify the monitoring and collection of open data. We outlined the idea here: https://bonfirenetworks.org/gaia/.
I’m wondering if prototyping a PoC integration with #Nerves could be an interesting experiment to validate this idea. Even better, it would be amazing if the Nerves community might be interested in collaborating to explore this further! 👀
@d1re_w0lf While there may still be breaking changes for people hacking on extensions, we expect it to be a smooth upgrade for instance operators and users :)
@yetiinabox @are0h yes we have all the building blocks to share blocklists, subscribe to team or having multiple individuals curating them. We will get there.
@n0toose apparently...
@lebout2canap
Kudos to @KamalaHarrisWin @newsmast @tchambers and all the wonderful people involved in pushing the Harris campaign and crowdfunding across the fedi, despite the result this is the approach we need to cultivate for the years to come.
Use the fediverse to organize, care, protect and grow the commons.
Make alliances, experiment, build cooperatives, transform how we work and connect and have fun.
Explore the art of living in a damaged planet.
We the network.
📢 Any devs in #London today? Join us for a talk and Q&A on the Bonfire Framework at the Elixir London meetup! 🔥
@mayel will introduce @bonfire, a flexible framework of tools and libraries to build federated, social and collaborative apps.
Perfect for devs interested in Elixir and open-source, modular and federated software.
📅 7:00 PM Friday October 25th @ Erlang Solutions, Whitechapel
@meljoann @radiofreefedi yeah it’s a pity we still didn’t found a way to focus on RFF pilot! We are trying to get the 1.0 out and at same time find sustainability to pay ourselves and onboard new devs among other things. Maybe applying to a grant to develop the needed features could be a way to push this forward? Happy to chat more about it…
If Mosaic sounds like a solution worth exploring—or you're simply fed up with the unpredictability of profit-driven platforms—we’d love to chat!
Let’s schedule a call: https://calendly.com/bonfire-networks/call to discuss your specific needs and explore how we can collaborate to create the ideal federated digital space for your community or organisation.

Enter Mosaic—a fresh approach to meet today’s needs. In a networked environment, the flow of information between teams, partners, and different layers of collaborators is a key factor for success. It’s no longer about working in isolation; it’s about thriving through connections.
Whether you integrate into the global network or build your own archipelago, the fediverse offers a refreshing alternative to the dystopic enshitification of Big Tech.
🧵 4 / 5
Why does it matter?
Because yesterday, we used to work in companies. Today, we thrive in networks.
Today an organisation’s success hinges not only on internal efficiency but also on how effectively it can communicate and flourish within a broader network of relationships, partnerships, and collaborations. Unfortunately, most platforms just aren’t designed for this. They are stuck in the past, limiting what organisations can achieve.
🧵 3 / 5
Mosaic is a service where the Bonfire team collaborates with you to co-design and build a bespoke online presence that serves as a hybrid between a traditional website and a social networking platform—going well beyond merely sharing pictures or short posts. Depending on your specific needs, we will include Bonfire extensions to facilitate all kinds of information sharing, community building, and collaboration.

We’re excited to launch Mosaic: a new initiative from the Bonfire team that empowers organisations by creating their own customised and federated digital space - built just for them.

We're adding navigation to our Bonfire app.
In this article, we dive into implementing TabView and Toolbar, building navigation components, and programmatically editing the toolbar based on the active tab.
