I’ve been struggling to put my finger on this, but Rachel has totally nailed why AI tutorial/educational content just isn’t the same (or as good!) as a human writer. (I’m not saying my writing isn’t flawed, but relevant context and framing is something I really work hard at!)

Totally barbaric. The function of lethal injection isvmedically to sanitise this brutality https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/ahead-rare-execution-lone-woman-tennessee-death-row-says-peace-rcna600279
@mpe It’s telling that Tennessee bungled this execution, twice, though I’d *expected* a bungle.
USA’s a bizarre place, and “shared values” with Australia is an increasingly dubious claim.
It's a lifestyle in search of an income 😅
on @gocomics + http://stickycomics.com today
@cstross ... all the while hoping the nascent storylines circling your brain don't pounce in the meantime ...
@mherbert There is a half-written novella waiting to be picked up at some point. But it'd be a mistake to get distracted from the space opera(s) before I've got them in the can.
Thing…?
@farah thingie or “doobie”
rationalist funding thread. it's always the ones you most suspect

#DECRETOLEGISLATIVO9 settembre 2026, n. 160
Note: Entrata in vigore del provvedimento: 30/09/2026

@jrootham @AnarchoNinaWrites it's not clear what your question is.
@davidgerard Sounded a bit like "nuh-uh" to me. But I suspect he's one of yours. I don't know that I've interacted with the account before and it's a lot of weirdly terse replies to Doctorow and Stross. I would advise not investing the time in looking up elections maps from the last two local elections and then drawing big circles around the newly-Green seats. Seems like it's low payoff.
The biggest part of "writing the code" was/is gaining an understanding of the system you’re building, but more often, extending. Especially when working with mature/“brownfield" (dislike this term a lot) systems.
If you say you're not reading the code anymore without telling me how you’re gaining an understanding of the system, you're simply skipping that step.
"Development" is indeed accelerated, right until something breaks or is too slow and you can't fix it in a relaxed manner.
@simeon I already had that, but the calories and raw energy expenditure stopped me from mania coding everything I wanted, now the mania is in the cloud.
One emergency. Several countries. One communication system. 🇪🇺
We are proposing the European Critical Communication System, a common solution for first responders acting in cross-border situations.
First responders from different EU countries will be able to share voice, video, data and location in real time, securely and seamlessly under the same system.
When disaster strikes, borders must not be a barrier for emergency teams. 🚒🚑🚓

@liaizon What is it? (I did check the site, but it seems it was made assuming everybody already knowing what it is)
