My experience as a trans woman from outside the UK navigating the UK's demented new bathroom laws has been that people look at me, wonder what the fuck I'm asking about and why they should care (some even think I must be _stupid_ to not understand the signs), and just gesture to the women's loos.

(unless there's a readily accessible accessible [pun intended] signed toilet, which also works fine for avoiding confusion, but most of London was built before wheelchair accessibility was a thing and once again I must remind people that this is not a workable long-term solution)
I don't want to get my hosts in trouble, nor do I think it's the most effective way of educating people how stupid and unenforceable the law is by arguing with service workers who are just trying to get by.
so I make a good-faith to comply, confuse the shite out of people, and move on.
