Considering taking the old Samsung Chromebook Pro, installing UEFI firmware on it and then either Linux or NetBSD.
Downsides: no way back (the device is AUE, so I cannot get a new recovery firmware), thus the device might be bricked. Also, I would need to open the device to remove the write protect screw.
Should I?

The question to ask is, what's the Chromebook worth to you now? If you unrecoverably bricked it, how much less use would you get out of it?
