I'm exhausted, most of all, by talking to programmers who have an absolutely unshakeable ideological commitment to the idea that none of our tools could possibly hurt us, that programming is an easy job with no dangers, simply because it involves a lot of sitting down and thinking quietly, that any ill effects must be merely shaken off as a mindset problem. even people who can look at a tool and intellectually discuss its possible dangers will never take that information and simply stop using it
