They have enough money, enough authority, and enough nazis what think they're ninjas to do some pretty wild shit in terms of placing agents provocateur, surveillance, disrupting your organizing efforts. And of course, presumably, if your efforts start to bear fruit, to eliminate leaders. And don't tell me that ain't real because I know American history pretty good and this how we roll. They got Chairman Fred, didn't they?
Like, this is not a hypothetical my friends. Not just anarchists and antifascists, even liberals and dem socs were saying "so uh this War on Terror panopticon you're building here, where anyone you say is a terrorist has no rights and is fair game, what if a government decides to use it on us?"

The point is not "don't fight back, don't organize."
The point is don't be cavalier about it. Don't assume you're too small to bother with. These people are HERE to bother with you. They are going to try to fuck your shit up. They are going to try and spy on you. They are going to accuse you of whatever it takes to nullify your rights, and then go after you with impunity. You ain't the first.
But you can't just pretend it is not real. They'll fuck you.

@PeachMcD Pretty fair assumption - the budget for this since the establishment of DHS, under the guise of preventing terrorist attacks, is fucking astronomical. And again that's how it was used even before Trump said librarians who want to abolish ICE are enemies of the state.

I mean when's the last time you remember a politician telling you they're gonna cut the antiterrorism budget? Yeah, fucking never. And who does the government consider terrorists? I mean I used to tolerate people being obtuse and telling me "they're only going after the bad guys" but the Trumpenreich just told you "we mean trans people, librarians, and law-abiding protestors" so that fig leaf is gone.
It is what it is. You'd be better off accepting it early, and adapting to reality fast.
