House Republicans join Democrats to keep Trump from buying Russian oil.
This is an important step and will likely be overwhelmingly supported in the Senate as well.

But I thought the House wasn’t in session. The Speaker sent everyone home, allegedly out of fear that the impeachment of Hegseth would proceed. Is it possible for House members to pressure the Speaker to call everyone back?

@randahl The true purpose of the slob's diesel deal with Russia isn't to ease local supply issues.
It's so that, when Ukraine bombs another one of Russia's refineries, the slob can declare Ukraine a terrorist state for attacking a critical American supply line, and either impose sanctions, or attack it directly.
These midterms couldn't be more important. You do not get to sit them out. Ensure your voter registration is current, and then vote Democratic. All offices. No exceptions.

We'll see if it's an important step based on what's in the legislation. Chances are, no, it will not be important.
Details are scarce, but it doesn't seem like the problem is Trump buying Russian oil. Rather, it's about other actors buying the oil, not Trump.
This looks like just another empty political stunt.
