We jumped ship to British Gas purely for costs reasons. I can report that theirs is even worse (though the problem we were trying to unscramble might well have been caused by octopus miskeying a closing reading.)

@neil yeah, they’re both slow and not very helpful these days. Aren’t they the biggest supplier now? Not exactly an upstart anymore. Interested to know if there are any suppliers that are both better on customer service, not going bust anytime soon, and offering well priced smart tariffs

@neil they have been going down hill and still behave like they're the cool upstart - which they're not. I understand the framework they operate in but also the reduction in export payments and yet another increase in import costs is getting boring fast.

@neil Very much my experience as well. They still seem to do OK for "normal" stuff, but the people who I deal with know less about the smart tariff than I do.

I shouldn't know the terms and conditions of the tariff better than the person I'm talking to.

Honestly, it's hit-and-miss. Sometimes you get an agent who knows what they're talking about, but other times you get one that makes you wonder where they found them.

I have however found that if you get one of the bad ones and leave a 2-star review on Trustpilot, they'll get someone competent to contact you and fix it.

@neil 100% this! Had an awful time with them at start of year. Took so much effort to get things sorted it dragged on for months. 😞 I suspect it's a consequence of them growing so much through the other companies going bust.
