About eleven million years later I've finally overlocked all the skirt pieces and all the shirt pieces along all sides that need finishing. Have packed away the overlocker again, and hope I won't be needing it right away.

Overlocking the skirt pieces. This is yet again one of those steps that are a little bit miserable to do (loud, dusty, the overlocker is a bit finicky to set up and run) but will make it much easier to sew everything together later... No raw edges shedding linen thread everywhere, not as much warping or stretching, constantly being aware of which side of the fabric you're on because my top and lower threads are a different colour...

And yet! Ah heck I need more tea.

@quixoticgeek Oh shit yeah, I keep forgetting to make the little line drawing and pattern diagram I'm meaning to do. But here's a sketch, it's one of those early 1900s flounce skirts, not as outrageous as the late 1890s flounce skirts

Pencil sketch of an ensemble on a ruled paper spiral notebook. There's a shirtwaist with a standing collar, buttons down the front, tall cuffs and loose sleeves. The skirt is a standard walking skirt shape, except the side and back hem falls as a separately sewn rippling flounce.

@sinituulia ooh that looks awesome. I need to finish making the 18th century skirt I started, but I need to get a better light so I can sew in the evenings.

@quixoticgeek Thank you! It won't look quite the same, but that was what I started to draft based on.
I have two desk lamps on right now and still it's a bit dark here...
