@DismalManorGang I have never read anything by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson (and don't intend to start now).
But weren't Daleks actual creatures driving the death machines? So not AI at all.
Of course I haven't watched any of the modern era stuff, so maybe they're entirely android machines by now. But originally they were just really, really extreme wheelchairs.
