I want to go here so badly. Especially right now, after I've spent all day trying to get the 197 parts of this stupid grant into the word limits and perfect formatting with a couple of "breaks" for meetings with astronomers to talk about satellites destroying everything... sand dunes in the middle of freaking nowhere sounds pretty amazing.

@ranx Well, "local" is a bit of a stretch. It would take me a several hour drive and then a several hour plane ride to get there. I think maybe you can drive all the way there on ice roads in the winter? Maybe? It's like 1200 km away from where I live. Saskatchewan is really really big.

@sundogplanets Spirit Sands Manitoba can give you a taste of that. You can drive to the trail head. In past years you could take a horse drawn wagon ride through part of the sands.

Besides being somewhat close to you, it’s also close to where RASC Winnipeg hosts an annual star party (same Spruce Woods park). I wouldn’t be surprised if you know it.
