I boosted this when it appeared but there are a distressing number of people who have just posted their views as replies. In case it's not clear, the way to influence the @EUCommission on #AI and #Copyright is to respond to the consultation, not post aggressive comments in reply to the notice.

@webmink I agree that aggressive slacktivism is pointless but seriously, do you have any clue to prove that taking part in those consultations has any impact, even minimal?

I might be biased by being french where fake democratic process are ordinary.

See the eu citizen initiatives, when did any change something? Stop killing games? Directly to the trashbin.

I never comment on @EUCommission posts or boost consultations but I would be happy to be proven wrong

I have spent most of the last 4 years working on the CRA legislation and the standards that support it. That happened because the responses I and other open source figures made to the early CRA news persuaded Commissions stuff that they had missed something.

My experience has been that commission and to a lesser extent. The parliament do take note of genuine citizen voices, but it takes a lot of effort to make them believe that those voices are real since they are very much tuned to corporate lobbyists and their civil society clones rather than the genuine voices of the people.

Things easily cascade when the EU doesn't know how (or want) to poll the public opinion.. If you do these "consultations" you automatically exclude people, which might just be the EU's plan.

Indeed, it is important to actually take part in the open public consultation, as this is one of the best ways in which citizens can affect EU policy.
Comments on social media are useful in furthering the debate amongst people online, and the engagement generates more visibility for the post. We do read our comments and report back to policy makers on a regular basis, but as you said, taking part in the consultation is the best way to ensure your voice is heard.
