to give Plato credit where it's due, I find it very interesting that there are modern scholars and philosophers who insist that the nigh-universal motif of warrior women and huntresses in ancient mythology is purely an artistic conceit with no basis in reality, because they assume that ancient cultures were necessarily 100% pure patriarchal. But Plato, of all people, is over here like "haven't you dumbasses ever seen Athena? Do you think her weapons and armor are for show? Give your daughter a spear, she'll know what to do with it, I promise."
