Things seen today: dozens and dozens of white-throated sparrows, rustling and calling everywhere; golden-crowned kinglets passing through, with their tiny flashes of movement in the canopy and high-pitched trilling; I saw a red-tailed hawk before they saw me, though I only got distant photos; a tiny garter snake! Also a fungus of some sort that had burst open, spilling vibrant orange ooze.
