Thinking a bit about someone I know who has been radicalised into far right Islamophobic/racist/conspiratorial ideology. I’m bewildered, disappointed, angry about the impact their views and votes have. But I also feel pity. The world is so incredibly interesting and she’s missing out. I think about my travels in a Muslim majority country where the people were all so lovely. I think about the joy at events the local queer community runs. I think about the great music she’s used to love but now denounces believing the artist is trying to spread some secret evil message. What a loss to waste precious years in this beautiful diverse world despising so much of it.

@PetraPanda thanks. It’s hard to know what’s really up with her (especially since she’s been ghosting me since I gently called her out on some of it) I don’t know how much is pre-existing shitty attitudes and how much is not thinking critically about and consuming a lot from an Instagram algorithm that’s gone dark places. Either way it really sucks.
Use META and you'll get white-supremaciat and right-wing views. It's what the company stands for.
