When Hacktoberfest was still giving out free t-shirts, popular GitHub repositories would be hit by hundreds of low-effort pull-requests.
Some developers were so desperate to get a free t-shirt that they didn't care about the toll their low-effort spam took on maintainers.
Now everyone has access to LLMs, they can have their favourite AI generate an unlimited amount of issues and PRs. Every day. Forever. And damn the consequences.
