Wow. Sitting in the pharmacy, waiting for my vaccines to be ready. And i just overheard the tech talk an older guy into adding covid onto the flu vax he was already getting.
"How much is it?"
"It's covered by your insurance"
"Ok. Let's get it done. Thank you for looking out for me."
So that was nice
Now my arm is getting sore 😞
And now my whole body is sore
So, that sucks
I hope that guy from the pharmacy is having a better time than I am. Don't want people avoiding it because the side effects are so rough.
But the side effects are always rough for me

@jenniferplusplus my immune system is always a huge drama queen about vaccines, though I’ve heard this year’s vaccine is rough for a lot of people
That says you are (relatively) young, with a strong innate immune system that thinks the vaccine is the real sickness, and is trying to protect you.
Meanwhile, your acquired immune system (the other half of your immune system) is watching and learning, building antibodies and writing down the threat profile in memory B cells for the next time the threat shows up.
So... a very good sign. (Also, annoying.)
I worry far more about elders who shrug and say their vaccines were no big deal. That means they have less active immune systems overall.
@jenniferplusplus our pharmacist told us to ice immediately after the injection - been doing that the last three years, it seems to help
@gvwilson hm, that's never come up in discussions I've seen. Last I knew, the vax tracking crowd was recommending loratadine a couple hours before, or benadryl 30 minutes before.
@jenniferplusplus I often have strong reactions to vaccines too.
