DHHs "technology adoption" argument on stage with Matz that resistance to LLMs is like the initial resistance to early Rails because it was "new", "slow" & "didn't scale"; dismissed by incumbents, but eventually succeeded & "revolutionised" the industry, likely isn't wrong.

But it misses a fundamental framing: Rails was open source and free and helped democratise web tech. The current LLM industry does the opposite, it gates progress behind a paywall. It's aim is to make a few rich men richer.
