@khinsen I read a few lines, it hurts too much.
My view "selling epistemology" is hard; only few people really understand how fragile our knowledge of anything is. In my understanding, we sometimes make discoveries, and rarely we even discover something by thinking hard about what we already know (deduction). More often we try random combinations of things that we already have some concept of (symbolic or totemic) and retain what works. Theory, technology, or rite follows.
This also applies to what most people think is "epistemology": it takes way to long to understand the structure of our reality. We simply don't live long enough.
