A Texas city council candidate has been arrested on a misdemeanor charge for “riot participation.” This comes after he joined a protest against the shooting of a Venezuelan man by a federal immigration officer. The Texas Department of Public Safety said in an email Saturday that Ramos was captured on camera taking construction barricades, sandbags, and other items and attempting to obstruct traffic. Ramos denies any wrongdoing and plans to contest the charge. The protests were sparked by the shooting of Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, who was shot and then detained by immigration officers.
