Working on a mastodon python script using mastodon.py today. It's going to emulate what I think channel.org was doing - for each followed account, check every 10 minutes or so and boost any public posts.
Also excluding replies and unlisted posts.
I'll also re-evaluate the account's discovery settings and look for common nobot, etc. tags in pinned posts and profile bios before boosting (at least once per run anyway).
@Mabande The bot never follows someone on its own. I personally curate the list of official platform accounts and vet their nobots and discovery preferences. But, those preferences could change after my initial vetting. So the bot does check on every run again and skips them if it finds it has changed.
I might make it unfollow if it identifies those preference changes, but for now it just skips boosting their public posts (it never boosts unlisted, followers only, etc.)
Will probably look at my logic from the image gallery I wrote awhile back which was also heavy on the user preferences checks.

@box464 Just saw this and have to ask:
is the bot meant to find a user, follow them, check their profile for opt-outs and boost if no outs are found?
Or does people have to follow the bot before it follows and boosts them?
