Miraculously, I didn't drop the pumpkin. It was also a miracle that the friend I was with is 1) one if the sweetest angels I know and 2) a school nurse. I'm also lucky to have an acupuncturist for a partner, and I reported to her as soon as I caught my breath. (I was having trouble breathing, almost as if I had been hit hard in the chest.) . 2/4
So my wonderful friend took her own car back to her home, returned to where I was by train, and drove me an hour to my home in Kyoto, in my car, before returning to her own home by train.
It's not as bad as the time I broke a couple of ribs, but it hurts to stand up, lie down, and sit up.
Lesson learned: Ask for help rather than trying to carry a 55 kg pumpkin alone. 4/4
Update: My 19th vertebra seems to be squished [EDIT: It was a compression fracture]. I have to come back tomorrow for an MRI and to have a corset prepared. The doc said the corset is "like chest armor." So this should be fun.
Unfortunately, my MRI appointment overlaps with #Monsterdon, which is too bad, since I was really looking forward to watching these goofy movies with the gang.
@RachelThornSub I hope you'll have a speedy and full recovery
The three of us discussed it, and decided that rather than trying to get looked at in an emergency room in Osaka, I should go home and see our neighborhood orthopedic surgeon tomorrow. My partner thinks I might have sprained my thoracic vertebra, and my friend was inclined to agree. (I didn't know "thoracic vertebra" in either Japanese or English.) 3/4
