VPN knowledge I just learned: I realized today that Google could still see my real location, even though I should be in Sweden. I was surprised - I thought this was the point in having a VPN, that sites couldn't see where you were coming from?
I discovered there is location sharing settings in both my MacBook's settings as well as specific settings for my browser (Firefox). Once both were turned off, my real location disappeared.
FYI this wasn't obvious at all - most sites still registered me as being in Sweden. Even my Google search results were from there - however at the bottom of my search results page, was a location designation listing both Sweden AND my real location in Oregon, USA. I wouldn't have realized Google was able to see this, and go fix that, if I hadn't noticed that small print.
