I just watched this fantastic talk by @scottjenson, and throughout the whole thing I couldn’t help thinking: “I wonder what this guy thinks about #GNOME and its attempt to innovate the desktop.”
(Should I be honest? This is a talk I would have expected to see at GUADEC, not at a #KDE event.) #UX

@Neffscape I *did* speak at GUADEC, two years ago and spoke about this very same effort. I didn't have these demos at the time but I did ask them if they were interested in collaborating. I don't want to be snarky, they were going through a lot of management turmoil at the time, but nothing has really come of it. I tried....

@scottjenson I think they didn’t answer the call because GNOME already has its own, rather “opinionated” vision of how the desktop should evolve... In fact, if you’ve ever used it (without extensions), you may have noticed that it’s quite “radical” in its choices. What do you think of GNOME’s workflow?

@Neffscape Gnome is following it's own path and even if there are folks that don't like it, you have to admire the commitment. I'm supportive of them doing whatever the hell they want, as long as they believe in it.

At least they are making a principled stand. The beauty of Linux distros is that you can vote with your attention. Don't like it? Then don't use it. But I don't agree with some of the rather strong replies I've seen about Gnome (not you! You were very neutral in your question) But there are people who get REALLY bent out of shape over Gnome and I'm a bit surprised. Just install something else?
