@TechConnectify actually saying that about software being done, I believe some cars are sold with a software upgrades that increase horse power, and I guess it's only doing that with advanced timings or even just allowing power to go so high.
@TechConnectify Just watched it. Yup, all fair calls. I (50) remember learning about points and distributor caps and timing from dad in ~1985. And yes, it works, and yes, it's easy to fix, and yes, in a zombie apocalypse that's how my tractor should work cos I don't care about efficiency and do care about bodgeability.
But for the average car in the last 30 years? Yeah, fair enough.

@TechConnectify Even though I've been an auto hobbyist for years - having rebuilt engines/transmissions and even custom tuned ECUs for a variety of platforms - I've still been watching your auto series and often learn something. Great stuff and from one Midwesterner to another, keep it up!
