It's nowhere near the worst or most consequential thing he's done, but I think Trump's threat to demolish the Kennedy Center if he isn't allowed to name it after himself is the clearest demonstration yet that he's gone mad with the imagined power of his office.
It doesn't advance any policy goal, and no constituency has been calling for it. He doesn't even particularly benefit from it. It's just a pure, simple expression of a corrupt ego out of control.

@mattblaze I think he actually wants to destroy the Kennedy Center in order to build another Trump Tower there instead. Just like he wants to build on the Gaza Strip.
In the end, the Kennedy center could be rebuilt. What can’t be rebuilt are the human lives that have been destroyed by everything Republican and everything billionaire and corporate that has been pillaging the nation in Ernest for 50 years
@mattblaze Demolishing the East Wing on a whim to build his ballroom (when the man obviously can’t dance) should have been a wakeup call.

He has mass murdered hundreds of people in boats who he claims are drug dealers, but they're turning out to be fishermen. Trump killed 1000s of people in Iran and blew up an entire school full of children. Ending the USAID has estimated to have killed 100s of 1000s of people.

@mattblaze he hasn't "gone mad", dude. He's an abuser. He's always been an abuser. If you think his wives spent their lives with him unbruised, you're smoking crack- he married a Russian prostitute for a reason.
"If I can't have my way I will destroy everything" is how abusers operate. It's standard and utterly unsurprising.
@mattblaze @ZBennoui It may not be the worst thing he does, but it does show how he can be manipulated. We've already seen foreign leaders do this when they fawn all over him with pageantry and lavish gifts. He slaps tariffs on our closest trade partner over a slight at the negotiating table. His foreign policy governed by his thin skinned ego is a national security threat.

@mattblaze My dad once told me something which I would say accurately describes why he is like this.
He told me that once you get rich enough, you act less in pursuit of money and more for legacy. Trump is already a billionaire and while he does want to grow his wealth, I bet for someone at his age he is coming to terms with mortality and is beginning to have a deeper desire to be remembered than anything else (which to be fair, he will...) and so he tries to do anything to preserve his name.

Look, I live on the opposite side of the planet & even I have known since before his first term that this dude can be fully encapsulated by "dumber than a flaming barrel of monkey poop" + "100% pettily malicious". He has always wanted to destroy anything & anyone who doesn't please him - the only difference now is he's found out that people will let him do it.
