There’s been way too much acceptance without question.
If corporations own our politicians, we need to hold them accountable too and STOP believing everything they say.
A bailout is never going to make these companies profitable. They are nothing but money pits & no amount of other people's money will put them in the black.

AI tech bros panic over AI is not about how it can be abused and endanger the quality of human life or its existence. For starters, the abuse is built into the system by tech bros themselves.
It's about regulatory capture and building into the system blanket immunity for what they do
@dangillmor Fair skepticism about the mechanism itself, regulatory capture followed by a bailout is a classic pattern that already played out in the 2008 financial sector. But worth separating two different claims here, that AI companies are lobbying for regulation that benefits them is almost certainly true, and that the entire AI phenomenon is purely a bubble and a con is a separate claim that needs its own evidence. A company can simultaneously be building something genuinely useful and also angling for regulatory capture, those two things aren't mutually exclusive, and collapsing them into one narrative makes it easier to dismiss the legitimate concern about consolidation while ignoring the actual technical progress happening underneath the hype cycle.
@dangillmor To be fair, it is also getting more people to know about the negatives of AI, so I still call this a win. Even if it means the people who caused it don't fail.

@dangillmor That's one of the reasons why they're pushing so hard for adoption of AI in every part of society. They want to be too important to fail before they inevitably run out of money.

@dangillmor 100%. That’s where all the doom comes in handy. They’ll say everything else but their product is unsafe and the government has to ”regulate the market”, for ”public safety”, forever locking all competitors out and pulling the ladder up with themselves.

I suspect the reason the strategy is so transparent is because they got it from one of their "genius" LLMs.
