Not just because I use claude all day to code (I resisted for over a year) but I do think the general vibe of "If I see someone who uses AI in 1 way I dislike I will invalidate everything they have ever done" will not get a very good outcome for anyone.

@skyfaller yeah. If you're sad be sad at the person. Do it publicly.
My only worry is anything that encourages people to not disclose. I'm a big believer in disclosure so people can choose to support what they want and not be paranoid that everyone is lying about it. Personally I think that just leads to constant which hunts. And there will always be lairs and bad actors.
Perhaps I want to split a hair no one else cares to.
@stefan Let's use an analogy. Suppose someone is supporting the Republican party in a standard fashion, voting and donating small amounts to candidates. We want them to stop, and shaming may not be effective.
But tone policing people who are harmed by fascist policies and are upset is also not productive, and tends to drive them out of the community.
Ultimately you can't be welcoming to both fascist collaborators and the people harmed by their actions. You have to choose.
@skyfaller I supose I can imagine a messy grey area between those 2 groups and drawing that line is not always obvious. though it's nice when it feels obvious.
@stefan There's a tension between "blaming individuals for societal problems is not productive" and "collaborating with fascists is bad, actually". Some of this tension could be resolved with organized boycotts or unions / work stoppage, rather than placing the burden on isolated individuals.
But pretending that "AI" is fine, or just a tool, also won't work out well for anyone, including the collaborators.
